Offering emotional support and practical help to people with cancer and their families and friends.

ABOUT

Arklow Cancer Support was set up in 2009 by our Director of Services Mary O’Brien who recognised from personal experience an urgent need for a cancer support service in the area.

Arklow Cancer Support started small with an aim to provide practical and emotional support to people in the local community who find themselves affected by a cancer diagnosis.

Initially the group held monthly meetings on various cancer related topics but it became apparent very quickly that there was a much greater need for alternative services to. Over the years in order to meet these demands Arklow Cancer Support has introduced a wide and varied schedule of services tailor made to suit our client needs.

All services at Arklow Cancer Support are FREE of charge. As a voluntary group in order to make this happen we rely solely on fundraising events and the generous donations and contributions from local businesses and our fantastic local community . It is important to note that as a group we get no funding from the government or the H.S.E. This service exists thanks to the dedication of all our volunteers and supporters.

A cancer diagnosis can turn your world upside down and change the course of your life forever Arklow Cancer Support can provide a SAFE place at this time allowing you obtain necessary and important information from health professionals while helping you to learn new coping skills in a non-judgemental and caring environment.
